2023-2024 Upcoming Season

The newsletters are back after a nice summer break! The Brigade has started the academic year and both teams are in the midst of preseason conditioning (🥵). Above are links to the team leadership announcements on our team captains for the upcoming year.

The men will be traveling out to Ireland ☘️ this coming week to play against the University of Notre Dame in Dublin. I'll push out additional information for anyone attending that game later this week.

The women are hard at work with practice and will not be in action until September.

2022-2023 Season Review

What a first year as a varsity sport on both the Men's and Women's teams. While our sights have always been on achieving our greatest potential, I don't think anyone expected this level of success in the first varsity season. I have included some links to last season's highlights. What better way to prepare for next season by taking a look at last season and reviewing the teams achievements.

Fellow Navy Ruggers both past and present, greetings.

What an amazing year it has been. Varsity status and National Championships for both the Men’s and Women’s teams. The Men’s historical undefeated (18-0) season with two wins over Cal and three wins over Army was epic. The reason for the massive success of both teams: YOU! Your financial and non-financial contributions enabled a coaching staff that is second to none coupled with a fully supportive athletic department that led to this outcome. Thank you!

That said, we are just beginning. This fall, a new season will start, with new recruits and new goals. Team goals: win another championship. NRAA goals: start and maintain a dynasty that will match or exceed Cal’s storied history for both the Men’s and Women’s programs.

How does the NRAA meet these goals? The team is developing a multi-year strategic plan that we will roll out at the Fall banquet. Our focus will be on fundraising - the lifeblood of any successful program. We cannot rest on the success of this season, we need to take it to the next level. We will need your support.

I also want to shout out a congratulations to Coach Mike Flanagan for his selection to USA Rugby Hall of Fame. A fitting honor for a man well loved by this group.

I hope to see a huge turnout for the banquet to further demonstrate that support, to honor the teams, to honor the fallen, to honor our new HOF inductees and to celebrate the deep camaraderie only found in this special sport at this special institution - the United States Naval Academy.

With You.

Navy Rugby Family,

I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for your outstanding support. Your contributions to both of our championship teams have been invaluable, and we would not have achieved such great success without you. We have accomplished so much together, but we know there is still much work to be done.

We must activate our entire alumni network to ensure that our teams continue to excel in the long term. Your involvement has been crucial to our success, and we are confident that your ongoing support will help us achieve even greater things in the future. We will continue to work as an alumni association to make being part of this family an exceptional experience.

Thank you once again for everything you have done. Your dedication and commitment to our team have not gone unnoticed, and we are truly fortunate to have you on our side.

With,

Ryan Curry '03
